Health Insurance for Heart Conditions - Cardiac Care Insurance

February 17, 2017
Unfortunately, the modern lifestyle has taken a great toll on heart health. The sedentary way of life and unhealthy eating habits have escalated the risk of heart disease even among the youth. As per the Indian Heart Association, more than 50% of all heart attacks occur in individuals below the age of 50, while 25% of all heart attacks occur in persons below the age of 40. Most of you may already be aware that a heart condition can have debilitating effects on your body and may even result in loss of life. Furthermore, most of the heart ailments and conditions require expensive medications and surgeries which can crumble you financially. Over the years, heart care treatment costs have increased exponentially and most of the treatments are not even affordable for the general public.

Therefore, health insurance companies in India have stepped up and introduced dedicated heart or cardiac care insurance plans to help people cope up with the exorbitant heart treatment cost. Buying a critical illness plan or a regular health insurance plan may not be feasible if you have a pre-existing condition. However, in case of heart care insurance you can get coverage even with pre-existing diseases. When you have a dedicated health insurance plan for heart treatments, you can divert all your focus on recovery without worrying about the payment. Moreover, you can also opt for the best possible treatments without thinking about the costs involved. Besides these obvious benefits, here are few more ways how a heart care insurance will help you: -

  • Covers all types of heart ailments unlike critical illness plans and regular health insurance plans
  • Affordable premiums as the plan only covers heart ailments
  • Fixed lump sum payout regardless of actual expenses incurred for the diagnostic tests or the medical procedure
  • Tax benefits under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act 1961
  • Some plans also offer Hospitalization benefit, wherein you will receive a lump sum payout in case you are hospitalized.

While you can't predict the future, you can certain plan for such unfortunate possibilities. A heart care insurance is a practical way to plan for heart related contingencies. If you have a family history of heart ailments, or are suffering from conditions which increase the risk of developing heart disease, buying a heart insurance plan is a good idea.
