Life Long Resolution

Life Long Resolution
March 11, 2019

For most of us, a new year offers a clean slate, making it the perfect time for us to set new goals and targets for the upcoming 365 days. Generally, our resolutions are about living a better, healthier life. We always promise ourselves that we’ll exercise more and go on a diet, but these aren’t the only ways in which we can commit to bettering our lives. But a resolution should be maintained for perpetual happiness. So here is a list even if you didn’t plan one in the start of the year

1. Practice Mindful Eating

We live in an age where eating dinner in front of the television is a common practice in most households. Sadly, this means we are distracted and not paying attention to how much we’re eating, whether or not we are full, and what we are putting into our body. This year, let’s make an attempt to carve out a little time for each meal. Instead of reading or watching something while you eat, be mindful of what is on your plate, how it tastes, and how much you are consuming. When you pay heed to what you’re eating, you are likely to enjoy the food a bit more.

2. Maintain a Gratitude Journal

The world can be incredibly stressful sometimes. It’s very hard to make it through 24 hours without being exposed to information or news that is downright depressing. To ensure that you have something happy to focus on as well, you can keep a journal and write down a few things that you are thankful for every day. It could be something as trivial as getting a seat on the bus to work, or it could be something as significant as sharing a meal with loved ones.

3. Find Ways to Keep Active

No, we’re not saying that you have to follow a rigorous exercise routine or a super elaborate HIIT workout. But, finding just 30 minutes a day to enjoy a walk can seriously boost your mood and keep you healthy. If you’re really pressed for time, aim for a short, 10-minute walk a couple of times a day. If you live or work on a low floor of a building, try using the steps instead of the elevator. These small actions can improve your overall health.

4. Try Something New

To ensure that we continue to grow and evolve through life, it’s imperative that we try new things every once in a while. You can choose to go bungee jumping, or simply learn how to play an instrument. By investing in yourself and things that you enjoy doing, you’re sure to have a more fruitful year (and more things to write about in your gratitude journal!).

5. Put Yourself First

This may seem counter-intuitive, but there are certain times in life when it’s important to think about yourself before you think about the people around you. This is especially true when you have people who rely on you constantly. If you aren’t happy and healthy, it will not be possible for you to look after them. This is precisely why you need to go for regular health check-ups and purchase health insurance, not only for yourself, but also for all the people you love. A good health plan will provide you and your family with financial stability at times when you’re dealing with a medical emergency. These plans are incredibly important now, at a time when the incidence of lifestyle diseases is on the rise and medical bills are also skyrocketing.

By starting 2019 off with a solid health plan and these small but achievable resolutions, you’re sure to enjoy a happy, healthy, and successful year. Happy New Year!
