Have you invested in these 5 things yet?

December 16, 2019 882

The 2011 blockbuster movie "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" (ZNMD) taught us quite a few life lessons - to lead a fun and active life, to go head on for unchartered territories and face challenges in every walk of life. And who knows, when one gets into this groove, come what may, life can throw a few surprises!

Our life is mostly a round of commuting, office work, commuting back hone and crashing for the night. The rigmarole continues day in and out, with weekends for some quality family time, if you are lucky!

Have you ever thought of leading a ZNMD life?... and by that, I mean a life of working hard and also leading a healthy life, one with a meaningful hobby, one with quality family time and simply having fun. It's definitely possible, if you plan to get some quality 'returns' from life.

Invest in health

Career, marriage and then family are the set standards of a successful life in one's lifetime. But beyond this comes that extra bit of excitement, extra bit of contentment and extra bit of pleasure when one leads a healthy life. Exercise regularly, eat good and healthy food. The healthier you are, the lower your living costs, and more the enjoyment you get from simple pleasures!

Invest in a hobby

Taking up a hobby that gave you much joy in childhood but which was put on the back burner when education and career took priority can be therapeutic. The simple joys of collecting coins or rare stamps or books can help you spend your spare hours productively and help you connect with like-minded people. Having something else to think about, apart from work and family matters can help you recharge your batteries!

Invest in relationships

Family, old friends and even colleagues often fall by the emotional wayside once we are focused on building a career. Work no doubt takes precedence in life, but it is the human relationships you build and cherish along with way which will be your support structure once work ceases. Take an active interest in those around you, let your intuition guide you if anyone around appears to need your support and do not be afraid of asking for help when you need it. That's what friends are for!

Invest in curiosity, fun and wonder

Explore your world with the curiosity of the child that still lives within you. Learn to be thankful for the gift of an active life every day you wake up. Travel as much as you can. It helps you think beyond, reimagine life, rejuvenate, unlearn and share your experiences. Look with new eyes at the world around you, and watch yourself grow as a person.

Invest in insurance

And while you are doing all this, do not forget to account for the needs of the future, both yours and your loved ones. Life is full of uncertainties and all the experiences you plan to invest in can be enhanced only if you have invested in a secure life. Death, Disability and Disease are three uncertainties that can cripple your life journey and ruin you and your family's wellbeing.  It is like one of those show stoppers that ultimately leads to despair and disaster. One can overcome it by investing in life.

Insurance provides the much needed and affordable financial security for you and your family and can help maintain the same standard of living even in one's absence. Invest in an offering like HDFC Life Click 2 Protect Life (C2PL) which comprehensively covers one's life and provides adequate protection at an affordable price and protect your loved ones against the uncertainties that life may throw at you.

So remember to overcome your fears and live in the present, as you only live once!
