What are Uttar Pradesh Government Schemes?
Table of Content
Uttar Pradesh government schemes are welfare, financial, and developmental schemes. The state government initiates these to improve the standard of living of the people.
These schemes are executed in various sectors for the sake of inclusive development and financial stability. These include education, health care, agriculture, employment, women empowerment, and social welfare.
Some of the important schemes among these include Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana.
Agriculture and Irrigation Schemes in Uttar Pradesh
PM-KISAN
Kisan Rin Mochan Yojana
Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana
Solar Pump Yojana
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) provides financial coverage to cultivable landholding farmer families in Uttar Pradesh and the rest of the country. It is subject to certain exclusion criteria to enable them to take care of expenses related to agriculture, allied activities, and domestic needs.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, under the Scheme, ₹6000 is transferred annually in three equal instalments of ₹2000 directly into the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of the farmers.
The Uttar Pradesh Kisan Rin Mochan Yojana or UP Kisan Karj Mafi Yojana is an important scheme by the State Government. It provides relief to small and marginal farmers from their financial problems by writing off agricultural loans worth up to ₹1,00,000.
The Uttar Pradesh government's Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme is also popular as Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana. It offers families of farmers who pass away or become handicapped in an accident. They receive up to ₹5 lakh as financial aid from this scheme.
Benefits under this UP Kisan scheme are typically given to qualified persons between the ages of 18 and 70. In most cases, applications must be submitted within 45 days of the accident, but in some situations, the District Magistrate may allow more time.
The Uttar Pradesh government introduced the Solar Pump Voltaic Irrigation Pump Scheme (SPVIPS) to provide subsidised solar pumps to UP farmers. It has drawn inspiration from the PM Kusum Yojna.
Under this UP irrigation scheme, the state government supplies 10,000 solar-powered agricultural water pumps at a 70% subsidy for irrigation.
Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation Schemes
Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana
Pension Schemes
Rani Laxmibai Mahila & Bal Samman Kosh
Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission
The Chief Minister Samuhik Marriage Scheme aims to reduce excessive wedding costs and foster social peace for the residents of Uttar Pradesh. Each marriage gets a ₹1,00,000 financial cover under this plan.
The programme encourages straightforward and culturally sensitive wedding rituals by focusing on households earning up to ₹3,00,000 annually.
Case-Based Scenario
Anand is a daily wage earner in Kashi whose yearly income is below ₹3,00,000. Being the only breadwinner of the family, he is concerned with organising his daughter Priya's marriage without incurring heavy debts.
To ease this burden, Anand avails himself of the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana. Once his application is accepted, the marriage of Priya is performed in a government-sponsored mass marriage ceremony.
Through the scheme, the family is provided with monetary aid of ₹1,00,000. This enables the family to perform the marriage of Priya in an easy and dignified way without incurring any burden.
The Uttar Pradesh government offers a lot of pension schemes. The government will allow only senior citizens aged between 60 and 150 to avail ₹1,000 under this scheme.
Additionally, the Mukhyamantri Rajya Nirashrit Mahila Samman Pension Yojana offers ₹1,000 in social security to women who require financial support and are unable to support themselves on their own. The benefits of this plan are available to women who are 45 years of age or older and whose spouse has passed away, been abandoned, or is unmarried.
Additionally, each recipient of the Divyang Pension plan would receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 if they are at least 18 years old and have a minimum 40% disability. However, this policy will not be available to anyone who is receiving pensions under any other scheme, including widow, old age, or Samajwadi.
The Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Evam Bal Samman Kosh Scheme is another welfare programme of the government of Uttar Pradesh. It provides cash compensation, medical facilities, and education assistance. This scheme also aims at helping women and girl child victims who have been subjected to criminal acts such as acid attack, rape, and POCSO Act violations.
While such government schemes offer much-needed support during difficult circumstances, they are designed for specific situations. For example, if a family's primary earning member passes away unexpectedly, a life insurance plan can provide financial support to help cover daily expenses, children's education, and other long-term financial commitments that may not be addressed under these welfare schemes.
The goal of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM) is to enable rural women to become independent and powerful agents of economic change.
SRLM is an effective method for organising crores of women into self-help groups. It provides them market connections, financial resources, and skills, and empowers them to become lakhpatis and micro-entrepreneurs.
Women who are over 18 years of age and are from poor households or below the poverty line will benefit from this programme.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan
Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana
UP Skill Development Mission
Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana
Education and Skill Development Schemes in UP
The Government of India's flagship program, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), aims to achieve Universalisation of Elementary Education (UEE) on time. It complies with the requirement of the 86th Amendment to the Indian Constitution, which makes free and compulsory education for children aged 6 to 14 a fundamental right.
It strengthens the current school infrastructure by providing more classrooms, restrooms, drinking water, and maintenance grants. This initiative also aims to establish new schools in Uttar Pradesh communities that lack educational resources.
However, families can also consider a suitable life insurance plan to secure their child's long-term academic future against unexpected financial risks.
The Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana (MYSY) was introduced to encourage self-employment among the state's youth. It gives Uttar Pradesh's jobless youngsters cash contributions and other forms of help.
Under the programme, qualified individuals can start their own enterprises with loans from the government up to ₹25 lakh. They can use it to pay for working capital, raw materials, machinery and equipment, and other associated costs.
All eligible adolescents between the ages of 14 and 35 get training in their preferred trades through the UP Skill Development Mission.
It is one of the best UP education schemes, offering opportunities for unskilled and semi-skilled workers to improve their skills. 30% of the objectives are set aside for women, 20% for minorities, and training is offered only in courses that comply with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).
The Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana is the Uttar Pradesh government's flagship programme. It aims to empower young people digitally.
This programme offers free smartphones or tablets to eligible students participating in higher education, technical education, skill development, nursing, paramedical, diploma, and ITI courses. Students who are at least high school graduates can avail the benefits.
Healthcare and Sanitation Schemes
Ayushman Bharat PMJAY
Swachh Bharat Mission
National Health Mission (NHM)
Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY)
Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is the Indian government's ground-breaking health insurance programme. Through this programme, Uttar Pradesh's economically challenged population can also receive accessible healthcare and financial security.
For secondary and tertiary hospital stays, this policy provides up to ₹5 lakh per family annually. This guarantees cashless care in more than 7,000 hospitals nationwide.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan marked a significant change in India's attitude toward cleanliness. This initiative's emphasis on enhancing hygiene has financial advantages as well. The campaign has a part to play in the nation's overall economic development and progress. Over 100 million toilets have reportedly been built throughout India with this campaign.
The National Health Mission (NHM) was established to improve mother and child health in the nation's rural and urban areas. It offers easily accessible, affordable, and reliable healthcare services.
The National Health Mission has worked particularly hard to engage the people at the local level in Uttar Pradesh. NHM focuses on providing the general public, particularly the community's most vulnerable members, with services that are accessible, affordable, accountable, efficient, and of high quality.
JSY has an aim to lower maternal and newborn mortality. It encourages institutional delivery among low-income pregnant women and provides access to medical care during pregnancy and birth.
With a focus on increasing institutional and safe deliveries for families below the poverty line, the programme offers 100% central government-sponsored cash assistance integrated with delivery and post-delivery care. It also includes assistance for Caesarean sections or obstetric complications up to ₹1,500 per case for hiring specialists.
This programme gives the mother between ₹600 and ₹700, depending on whether she lives in an urban or rural location.
Infrastructure and Development Schemes
Expressway Projects
Smart City Mission
One District One Product (ODOP)
There are also Uttar Pradesh government schemes for expressway projects.
For instance, the Purvanchal Expressway is one of the best Uttar Pradesh development schemes. The six-lane motorway has enhanced commercial access while cutting travel duration between eastern UP and the National Capital Region. The state government has invested a total of ₹1.24 lakh crore in this project.
In addition, the government also invested ₹14,850 crore in launching the Bundelkhand Expressway. It is a motorway with four lanes that will eventually have six lanes. Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Mahoba, Banda, and Hamirpur are the six districts it will cover. In Bundelkhand's Chitrakoot district, the motorway would end at Gonda hamlet, which is close to Bharatkoop.
Considering it as one of the UP infrastructure schemes, the government has also invested in the Smart City Mission.
It is now the centrepiece of the urban change in Uttar Pradesh. Significant advancements in urban infrastructure and governance have occurred in ten cities of the state. The cities are Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Jhansi, Moradabad, and Saharanpur.
The state government of Uttar Pradesh has approved projects worth ₹6,000 crore under the Margin Money Scheme under the ODOP scheme to financially empower the local artisans and MSMEs. This big economic model driven by the state government has transformed grassroots entrepreneurship in all the 75 districts.
Conclusion
The Uttar Pradesh government schemes have played an important role in promoting inclusive development by supporting farmers, women, students, entrepreneurs, senior citizens, and economically weaker sections of society.
Through initiatives spanning agriculture, education, healthcare, social welfare, employment, and infrastructure, these programmes contribute to improving livelihoods while encouraging long-term economic and social progress.
However, their success ultimately depends on effective implementation, timely delivery of benefits, and greater public awareness. This ensures that eligible beneficiaries can fully utilise the opportunities provided by these schemes.
