In his own words, all he ever wanted to become was not the biggest or most popular but the most "loved" comedian in India. Zakir's strongest attribute is possibly that he can sift the grain from the chaff. Zakir has always maintained that fads come and go, but culture doesn't die.

In the very beginning of his career in comedy, Zakir was shuffling between his full time job and his stage performances. Even when this whole situation was getting really tiring and demanding for him, he decided that he'd leave his full time job ONLY when his comedy earnings amounted to double the sum of his salary. Such was Zakir's commitment to his financial stability!

According to him, the biggest challenge that comedians face is remaining relevant. One day you are famous and the very next day you are not! This is why he's chosen to invest a portion of his earnings and create a financial safety net to fall back on when the times are tough. Zakir also knows that the pursuit of passion and perfection is risky business. He had created a total of 21 stand-up comic videos before the hugely popular 'Delhi Girl' finally hit a chord with audiences. After that, of course, there's been no looking back.

However, Zakir continues to stay grounded. His expenses, he says, are the same that they were four years ago. Insecurity affects him as much as it does any other person, but being in a field where 20 competitors are launched every other day, how does he cope? "What is important is how I react to my insecurity. I use it to keep myself grounded," he reasons.
