Raksha Bandhan and the Importance of Protection

November 04, 2016 1525
During the auspicious Hindu month of Shravan, many Indians celebrate Raksha Bandhan. On this day, sisters tie a Rakhi or thread around their brother's wrist. The Rakhi represents love and is known as a protective bond (raksha bandhan). The thread also serves as a reminder for the brother to always protect his sister. The festival aims to celebrate the love and bond between siblings, and reaffirms their relationship. The sister also applies tilak on her brother's head and performs aarti for him, while praying for his good health and a long life. In return, she receives a gift from her brother. Ingrained in popular culture, numerous television shows and popular Hindi movies showcase the festival of Raksha Bandhan and the protective bond shared between siblings.

Though celebrated between a brother and sister, the foundation of this festival lies on the basic need of security and protection. We always feel comfortable and happy when we have a good support system of people who care for us and are constantly there to guide us. But, we can fulfil our need for security in another way as well. Opting for insurance plans is a great way to provide financial security for your future, and also the future of your loved ones. By providing financial security, you offer your loved ones the opportunity to fulfil their dreams, even if you aren't around to see it happen. By purchasing insurance, you financially protect your family and yourself from the uncertainties of life.

If you're looking for an insurance plan that provides comprehensive protection, then HDFC Life's Click 2 Protect 3D Plus plan could be ideal for you. Apart from saving with the tax benefits that the plan provides under current laws, this plan also offers some financial stability if you were to find yourself diagnosed with a critical illness, or if you suffer a permanent disability as a result of an accident.

The reason the Click 2 Protect 3D Plus plan is so helpful is because it offers nine different options that you can choose from based on your lifestyle and current needs. The Lifelong Protection Option, as the name suggests, provides cover for the rest of your life. During the term, if you are diagnosed with a critical disease or suffer a permanent disability due to an accident, your future premiums will be waived off. The term plan also allows you the freedom to choose your policy term and how you would like to pay your premiums.

Under the Life Option, your nominee is paid a Lump Sum Benefit if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness, of if you were to unexpectedly pass away. Additionally, your premiums are waived off in case of an accident resulting in a permanent disability. Whether your premiums are waved off or not, the plan will still provide your nominee the sum assured as promised. By opting for a comprehensive plan like the Click 2 Protect 3D Plus, you ensure financial security for your family, while also safeguarding your own financial future when things are a little tough.

This Raksha Bandhan, as you pledge to look after your siblings, also think about your other family members and secure their financial future by choosing insurance. To find out more about our protection plan options, click here.
