Destination weddings – the latest buzzword.

October 23, 2018

Marriage a coming together of two persons in holy matrimony and a promise of being in love forever. What can be grander in a person's life than the occasion where she/he commits to share the life with the special one? Weddings are a gala affair and even more so, when viewed from the Indian perspective. Indian weddings have traditionally always been big, spectacular affairs and the rich cultural diversity of our society has been a reason for this. Earlier, weddings used to be much hyped events, with the families involved spending hoards of their hard earned money on pomp and merriment. However, with the changing times and the limited budgetary planning, there has been a sea change in the way marriages are conducted today. Besides, with the increasing consciousness of global horizons, people especially millennials are opting for newer trends to make their weddings special, even if they are not constrained by financial limits. One of the trending types and much sought-after wedding formats today is the destination wedding. Earlier it was limited to close social elite circle but is now becoming the preferred type of wedding in broad sections of society. So, what is a destination wedding and why is it so much in demand? Simply put, a destination wedding is where the couple heads away to an exotic location (holiday destination) with a coterie of close family and friends to get married. In fact, a destination wedding is more like a holiday wedding in exotic locations, where everything from cutlery to the food menu and from music to drinks is arranged as per the couple's tastes. For a destination wedding, social etiquette demands that the guest pay for their individual hotel rooms and airfare (or travel fair, whichever is involved), while the couple takes up the expenses for the ceremony, food, beverages and additional merriment.

Most of us love travelling and would like to spend money on traveling and visiting the places that we have never been to before. Destination wedding is best suited for such types of persons who would love to be in a new place, a beach or a resort for taking their wedding vows. However, there are others, who may love travelling but would rather prefer to get married in their hometowns or places where their families (e.g. grandparents) live. Emotions revolving around weddings are very special and mean different feelings for different persons. While some may find it exciting to head out a beach or a resort abroad for their marriage, others may prefer to make the day special by being in the company of their known people in their hometowns. Whatever be the choice, for people who prefer to have destination weddings, careful financial planning and monetary preparedness is a must. The costs involved can be humungous and there must be no room for any kind of wastefulness. If you are planning to get married and would love to have a destination wedding, you must ensure that your finances are sufficiently secured and safeguarded and when it comes to it what can be a better assurance than insurance?
