A Financially Safe Haven for Loved Ones

April 09, 2018
There is nothing that can replace the absence of someone dear to us, and one should not even attempt to do so. One must simply hold out and endure it. At first that sounds very hard, but at the same time it is also a great comfort. For to the extent the emptiness truly remains unfilled one remains connected to the other person through it - Dietrich Bonhoeffer

This famous quote holds exceedingly true. There is nothing that can replace the loss of a loved one. There is perhaps nothing that can fill that void. But in the best interest of everyone involved, it is imperative that you muster the courage to move on in life.

The truth of the matter is that while you can't prepare for many of life's exigencies, you can find ways to come to terms with it. When something tragic happens, people tend to get stuck in a limbo. There are so many thoughts running through you - thoughts that would never come to mind otherwise. There is so much you would want to say but didn't get a chance to. Eventually, all you can do is give it time - to feel and heal.

Through this healing process, it is important to find ways to express your emotions in the best way possible.

If you're struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one, embrace Tanvi's story as sheer conviction and proof.

Tanvi Mallya married her childhood sweetheart. Less than a year ago, she lost him to a sudden heart attack. He was only 30 years of age. Needless to say, she couldn't have possibly seen this coming.

While she copes with the loss of her husband, she has used the power of objects and places to surround herself with happy thoughts and yearning memories of him. By doing so, she gets to look back and smile.

Tanvi has accepted the reality of her situation and found the strength to surpass it. She has realised that this is the hand she has been dealt, and instead of letting life get her down, she focuses on remembering the good times, and allows the strength from her memories to carry her through the hard times.

But even as she does her relentless best to normalise life, there is the impending question of finances. Nowadays, where both husband and wife are likely to be working, there is the imminent financial burden attached to the loss of a partner. The same holds true for Tanvi today.

Tanvi knows that losing a partner, at any age, is an incredibly difficult situation to deal with. And while money doesn't make it easier, it is helpful if there is a financial safety net to fall back on, especially in this day and age, where both partners have to work to live a comfortable lifestyle. In such a case, the loss of a partner could mean a financial struggle on top of the emotional turmoil that a person is already dealing with. This is where term insurance comes into play. A good policy will offer you and your loved ones some financial respite during a trying time.

As much as we'd all love for there to be some sort of solution or plan to help us prepare for life's uncertainties and eventualities, there's nothing that can prepare us for the loss of a loved one. However, a little financial strength can help us through the grieving process.

The Memory Project explores life after losing a loved one and the memories, objects, stories one may cling onto to remember them. If you too have a story to share, participate by clicking on the link below:
