Coronary diseases: Use nature as your best Defense

Coronary diseases: Use nature as your best Defense
January 02, 2019
The advent of modern times has seen a rapid escalation in the number of diseases and disorders that plague the society. Most of these diseases are referred to as lifestyle diseases and as the name indicates, they are the results of lifestyle choices and unhealthy practices. Heart diseases form one such category of diseases and disorders that have already assumed alarming proportions in many societies across the globe. Although, some may argue that with increasing age, weakening of heart muscles and the probability of developing a coronary disorder increases, yet Ayurveda and other ancient treatises teach us that it is not always so and that if proper care is taken, such diseases can be avoided.

Coronary condition indicates the condition related to the arteries that supply blood from the heart to the body. There are a number of factors like chronic stress, poor dietary habits, lack of exercise, smoking, excessive alcohol abuse etc. that lead to plaque build-up in the arteries, leading to a host of disorders, which can be debilitating and even fatal. Medical research and the medical facilities related to treatment and prevention of heart-related disorders have been extensive and boast of a high level of outreach. However, as the adage goes – prevention is better than cure, there are a lot of natural options that can prevent the occurrence of coronary diseases. The most important ones are listed below:

  1. Include raw or steamed vegetables in your diet: Using excess amounts of oil or over indulgence in deep fried or oily food must be always avoided. Dietary changes form the basic parameter of a healthy lifestyle and consuming fruits like apples, pomegranate and green leafy vegetables is very important as it supplies the necessary minerals, vitamins and other vital nutrients to the body. Ideally, eatables like radish, carrots etc. must be consumed raw and boiled vegetables must form an essential part of your menu.
  2. Consume essential proteins: Proteins act as the building blocks for the body and are essential for all the systems of human body. You must make it a point to consume omega 3 essential proteins which can be found in salmon fish and several other sources. You must make it a point to include diverse sources of nutrition in your menu and must focus on boiled or steamed food.
  3. Regular exercise: This is very essential as it pumps your heart and revitalizes the cardiovascular system besides making the body strong from within. Exercising does not mean spending hours in the gym, doing strenuous exercises. Just a regular, rhythmic form of physical activity will suffice in the beginning.
  4. Importance of de-stressing: Stress is the primary cause of all coronary diseases and you must regularly de-stress. Although stress cannot be completely avoided due to a variety of reasons, yet chronic stress must be prevented and this can be done through regular meditation and yoga. Regularly practicing meditation and yoga makes the body and mind invigorated and ensures the overall wellness of heart.
